The Orchid Satellite Tracking System is a total Communication and Telematics package that uses the United States Military Satellite Networks.
Every vehicle in our fleet is fitted with its own GPS Satellite that enables us here in Littlehampton to monitor vehicle movements 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
It will give us real time locations accurate to within 3 metres anywhere in Europe.
We no longer have to rely on drivers to give us accurate locations. We know if a vehicle is running late for whatever reason without disturbing the driver. This in itself allows the driver a more relaxed working environment and relieves any pressures put on him from phone calls and in turn reduces potential accident risk.
Coupled with additional SMS in cab display screens text messages can be sent to and from the vehicle allowing us to re-route vehicles to different delivery and collection points with ease and confidence. Information is stored on the computer hard drive and can be downloaded to provide accurate information for anytime period.
This information details the vehicle position at 12-minute intervals detailing time, speed, direction and whether the ignition is on or off.
